QUIET.COMPASSION

She musters up the courage

Saying how she truly feels

Sparing all the gritty details

Of reality revealed.

Picking pieces, one by one

After bending until she breaks

Up from scuzzy floors, uncertain

Sleeping beauty finally wakes —

To a dreamlike delusion

Worlds away from present day

Quiet compassion for her hurt

And men who told her just to lay.

Hard as it may be to leave

Stories, heartbreaks, truths untold

Overwhelmed

She sits at the helm

Sailing, letting

Life

Unfold.
