Pulling at my hair

Twisting it through your fingers

Careful not to rip

My heart out

Mind in tact, nevertheless.

Struggling to grasp

A broken home

A broken past

Overwhelmed by the flood

Of blood and tears

Streaming down

Puddling into a well of hurt.

You set me in motion

Forever in debt

To your will —

That is, until I saw her

Moving toward me

Like Holy Mother Mary

Blessing me as I stand

God’s plan was always

In my hands.
